Today, the Economic Security Project is announcing the expansion of its Board of Directors to include Dr. Aisha Nyandoro, CEO of Springboard to Opportunities, and Dr. Felicia Wong, president and CEO of the Roosevelt Institute. Together, Dr. Aisha and Dr. Felicia bring with them years of experience on the vanguard of the fight to reshape our economy so that it works for all families.
Dr. Aisha Nyandoro has over two decades of experience improving the quality of life for people living with limited resources. She created the Magnolia Mothers’ Trust, a landmark guaranteed income pilot for Black mothers in affordable housing that launched a movement. As leader of Springboard to Opportunities, she provides strategic, direct support for residents of affordable housing, using a “radically resident-driven” service delivery model that aims to put an end to the cycle of generational poverty. Dr. Aisha’s accomplishments have been recognized with an Ascend Fellowship from the Aspen Institute and a fellowship from the W.K. Kellogg Foundation’s Community Leadership Network.
Dr. Felicia Wong directs the Roosevelt Institute in its pursuit of a high-care, low-carbon economy that works for all. She represented the US on the G7 Economic Resilience Panel in 2021, and served on the Biden-Harris administration transition advisory board. Her research focuses on post-neoliberal thought and the intersection of race, economics, and social stratification. Her writing has appeared in the New York Times, the Washington Post, Time, Democracy: A Journal of Ideas, and the Boston Review; and she is host of the podcast, How to Save a Country.
Dr. Felicia and Dr. Aisha bring not just phenomenal track records, but deeply informed visions for ways to make the economy work for all people; and their presence deepens and diversifies our board.
“Dr. Aisha and Dr. Felicia have shown the country what it looks like to take a stand against concentrated wealth and power and to challenge the norms in our society that have left far too many people out of the equation. I am deeply honored to have both of them joining the Economic Security Project’s board during this critical period of expansion and I am eager to collaborate with them in helping to reimagine what it means to truly build economic power for all Americans,” said Taylor Jo Isenberg, Executive Director of Economic Security Project.
Dr. Felicia and Dr. Aisha are joining Dorian Warren and Chris Hughes as members of the Board of Directors where Natalie Foster serves as Economic Security Project’s President. They will work closely with Economic Security Project’s Executive Director, Taylor Jo Isenberg, as well as with the extraordinary and growing team of academics, campaigners, practitioners, and culture-makers who drive our work forward.
