Statement from Economic Security Project on President Trump’s Latest Cash Proposal

“It seems like every other week President Trump rolls out a new cash promise because he knows cash is popular with the American people. Now, he’s floating cash as a ploy because his actions have only made the cost of living crisis worse,” said Anna Aurilio, Interim VP of Campaigns at Economic Security Project.
“Despite many empty promises, Trump hasn’t delivered any relief to working people, just higher costs. He’s taken money out of pockets of families who need it most. H.R.1, his signature legislation, kicked nearly 3 million US citizen children off the Child Tax Credit, and gutted healthcare and SNAP. If Congress and Trump are serious about delivering cash to help with the affordability crisis, they should strengthen proven lifelines, like the Child and Earned Income Tax Credits.”
